Promotion of Hygiene Education Program

The organization has also emphasized on promotion of menstrual hygiene education for adolescent girl children of high schools as absenteeism during the menstrual period among the adolescent girl children is increasing due to lack of these facilities in the school. United ways Kolkata responded to mitigate the issue and as a pilot, they have implemented this program in selected schools in Barrackpore- Block-I namely Mathpara Girls’ High School and Dogachia Bidyarthi Bhaban GSPF School. The school renovation activity in toilet blocks is done along with the running water provision. Drinking water stations were constructed in proportion to enrolment and height of the student for availing safe drinking water 24*7 hours. The most sensitive part of the activities was the construction of a changing room having adequate privacy and all requirements that a menstruating girl needs.

A room with commode, sitting arrangement, napkin store, basin with mirror, and disposal system of the used one were arranged. Even an incinerator was constructed to burn out deposited used napkins to prevent any kind of infection from these. The teachers, students, and their parents were happy and it is observed that absenteeism is remarkably reduced after opening the facilities for use. Read More

Awareness Program and Seminar

Naihati Prolife arranged an awareness program named “Be Positive With Positive People” with the help of some generous people. The ceremony was started nicely through lamp lighting by Mr. Abdul Hossain, representative of the positive child. Mr. Sujay Singh, honorable secretary of Naihati Prolife was proposed to preside over the program and welcome the address of the program. This noble program was enriched with the presence of some veteran doctors/persons, Namely Dr. Atri Bisas, Dr. Nirmalya Ghosh, Mr. Partha Sarathi Ghosh (Teacher), Sandip Dolui, program officer of PPTCT Prog. North 24 pgs & Hooghly, Mrs. Sumita das, Vice President of NNP+ North 24 pgs, Mr. Atri Sen, President of Hooghly Positive People, and Sajib Dev, President of Nadia Positive Network. Cloth Distribution

Although 50 children were selected for presenting them new dress only 40 received new dresses as some children were absent before the auspicious moment of ‘Durga Puja’, the program was officially over by way of thanking everyone from the Naihati Prolife especially thanks were given to the authority of Bankim Pathagarh, and Krishna Electric and those who have extended a helping hand or support the event directly or indirectly. Education Program

Naihati Prolife has taken the responsibility of providing functional education to the children of migrant brickfield laborers within the Shibdaspore GP area of Barrackpore-I block of North 24 Parganas district. Last year a total of 2 schools provided education to more than 300 children within the brickfield whose parents are the laborers of those brick production units and seasonal migrants from Bihar and U.P. Their children hardly get a chance to go to any formal schools and their parents are mostly illiterate. These 8 schools generally teach children how to read and write in their mother tongue. They were also taught numbers in English and also taught simple arithmetic. The teachers are enthusiastic and work hard to teach them drawing, singing to develop their concept of Indian culture. Implementation of Sanitation Program

The program is implemented in two schools of Mathapara Girls’ High School and Dogachia Bidyarthi Bhaban GSFP School of Barrackpore Blok-I of the district of North 24 pgs of West Bengal. Safe drinking water, improved sanitation and 24*7 hours running water facilities, and Changing rooms with an incinerator of Adolescent Girls students were the main focus of the hardware activities and hygiene education, maintenance, and management of the created facilities was the main outcome of the software activities. Birthday of Swamiji

Nahati Prolife celebrated the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The vent got off to a good start with a colorful bicycle procession. The cycle rally started from Naihati Banerjee Para and ended at Sahalidaha School ground. Students of different schools and common people participated in it spontaneously. One of the aims of the rally is to make people aware of the environment. Then those who have gone to the village from the city are shown around the village with the help of local people. The lifestyle and landscapes of the villagers are shown. Drawing on one nature then participates with local children and children participating in the rally. With that we are able to organize a basic health check-up camp for the children, women. general people and other laborers of the brick-field of Shibdaspur. The health camp is composed of qualified MBBS doctors, clinic attendants, and requisite equipment for check-ups and medicines to be distributed free among the deserved community.
